Fox News operator and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshinova died in Ukraine (updated)

The car with journalists got caught under fire.

The American TV channel Fox News reported one of its operators, Irish citizen Pierre Zakrevski, was killed in Ukraine.

According to the information provided, Zakrewski worked on coverage from the Kyiv region together with correspondent Benjamin Hall, who was wounded yesterday.

"Their car got caught under fire in Gorenka, near Kyiv," Fox News reported.

Fox describes Zakrevsky as an experienced military photographer who covered almost all international events, from Iraq to Syria. He was 39 years old. He worked in London until February 2022, and in February he came to Ukraine.

Adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko reports that Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshinova was in the car that came under fire along with foreign journalists. She is apparently dead as well.

Update as of March 16, 2022: The death of Oleksandra Kuvshinova was confirmed by the director of the Institute of Mass Media Oksana Romanyuk. She also noted that, unlike the official statement of Fox News, Kuvshinova was not a consultant to the TV channel - she was a producer and part of the team. In addition, Romaniuk asked international organizations to investigate the working conditions of Ukrainian journalists for Western companies: whether they sign official contracts or have insurance in case of injuries or death.

As a reminder, yesterday the Prosecutor General Irina Venediktov reported about the injuries of Benjamin Hall. The journalist suffered a fragmentary fracture of the lower extremities and is in ICU under medical supervision. According to the Prosecutor General, the journalist was not at the military facility at the time of injury.
