Every day 70,000 Ukrainian children become refugees - UN

One and a half million children have left Ukraine since the Russian invasion. Every day, 70,000 girls and boys become refugees. Even more of them are moving inside the country, fleeing war actions.

This was reported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). "Dozens of Ukrainian children have been killed since 24 February 2022. Many others were injured. And more than 1.5 million children have left the country. Just think - since the beginning of the war, an average of more than 70,000 children have become refugees every day. Every day. An even more shocking number is that 55 children leave the country every minute, said UNICEF spokesman James Elder. "This crisis is unprecedented in the speed and scale of refugee flows since World War II, and we do not yet see any signs of slowing them down."

According to the UN, the number of refugees from Ukraine has reached more than three million.

As of 15 March 202, 97 children have died in Ukraine since the start of the war with Russia. Although the exact number of civilians killed is unknown, more than 2,000 civilians were killed in Mariupol alone.
