Kaczynski proposes to send a NATO peacekeeping mission to Ukraine

Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Head of the ruling "Law and Justice" Party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, believes NATO should send a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.

He stated this following a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Onet.pl reports.

"The assistance to Ukraine that the President was talking about is needed. But I believe that a specific principle that has been adopted also needs to be changed. I believe that a peacekeeping mission of NATO or of a wider international coalition is necessary. But it must be a mission that will operate in Ukraine and which will be able to defend itself. Now, this is what Ukraine, Europe, and the whole democratic world need the most, "Kaczynski said.

The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, also told about increasing support for Ukraine.

"We want Ukraine to become a candidate for the European Union very soon; we want to invite it to the EU. We will never leave you alone because we know that you are fighting not only for your freedom and safety but also for us," he said.

"The Russian invasion must end. The EU must grant you candidate status as soon as possible, and in addition, you must obtain defensive weapons. We will not leave you," Morawiecki added.

It should be noted that NATO is convening an emergency summit on 24 March 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine, which US President Joe Biden will attend.

Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Jaroslav Kaczynski, Prime Minister of Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, and Prime Minister of Slovenia, Janez Jansa, paid a visit to Kyiv on 15 March 2022. They met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and held negotiations with President Zelenskyy.

Shmyhal said that the parties discussed support for Ukraine and the strengthening of sanctions against Russia during the meeting. After the meeting, President Zelensky thanked European politicians for their support. He emphasized that with such friends - neighbors, Ukraine will be able to win the war against Russian aggression.
