The Russian military, who dropped a bomb on the building of the Drama Theater in Mariupol, could not be unaware that there were people there because the theater was a designated gathering place for people who lost their homes and livelihoods.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated this.
"The occupiers continue to commit war crimes and genocide of the Ukrainian people. According to witnesses, Russian occupation forces dropped a heavy bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theater. The Drama Theater, the city's cultural center, has been identified as a gathering place for people. The occupiers could not be unaware of this, as it was an officially designated place," the statement said.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, almost a thousand Mariupol civilians were hiding in the theater. However, the number of dead and injured is currently unknown.
"Many Mariupol residents hid in the theater with small children. This theater was a shelter where residents of besieged Mariupol escaped from continuous shelling. The world must hear the cries of Mariupol residents buried alive under the rubble. We will find everyone. We will find and destroy. We will not rest until we take revenge for every Ukrainian killed, "the ministry's statement says.
The Russian armies created a humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol. They hinder evacuations, prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid, and constantly fire on the city with various weapons. Yesterday, the enemy took hostage doctors and patients of a local hospital.
As of 13 March 2022, the number of people killed in Mariupol due to airstrikes of the Russian Federation reached 2,187 people.
