People are coming out from the bomb shelter of the Mariupol Drama Theatre, which served as a hiding place for hundreds of women and children, and which Russia dropped a bomb on yesterday. For now, there is no data about deaths or injuries under the rubble.

The civilians are still being released from under the rubble, as reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova. “The building withstood the extra-heavy aerial bomb strike and saved lives of the people who were hiding in the shelter. At the moment, the work of unblocking the basement is continuing. Adults and children are coming out. They are alive,” she notes.

Denisova emphasises that the air strike on this building, which is marked with the sign “Children” from each side, is an act of genocide and a horrible crime against humanity defined by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The drama theatre in Mariupol served as a shelter for civilians of the city, which is being blocked and destroyed by Russian occupiers. Yesterday the enemy carried out a strike right on this building.
