The Armed Forces of Ukraine killed the commander of the Kostroma Regiment of the Russian Airborne Forces Serhiy Sukharev.
This was announced by Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military blogger Anatoliy Stefan.
"This is the same scoundrel who, in 2014, was the BTGr commander of the same 331st Regiment that shot down columns of Ukrainian soldiers near Ilovaisk," he added. "There is justice in the world. And this fair trial was carried out today by Ukrainian defenders."
Later, the colonel reported the death of another occupier – Deputy Commander of the 331st Kostroma VAT Regiment, Major Sergei Krylov.
Together with Sukharev, the Russian media acknowledged the death of four more military VAT, Ukrainian Pravda reports. It names Captain Alexei Nikitin, Corporal Yuri Degtyarev, Sergeant Alexander Limonov, and Sergeant Sergei Lebedev.
The regiment, commanded by Sukharev, took part in both the Chechen wars and the 2008 Russian-Georgian war.
In Russia, airborne troops are considered to be elite fighters.
On 17 March, the General Staff of The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russian troops lost offensive potential and were stopped in all directions.
