Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Gianmarco Tamberi has found an original way to support Ukraine during the high jump competition at the World Summer Sports Championships in Belgrade.
The 29-year-old Italian pasted the Ukrainian flag on his shoulder and wrote the names of Ukrainian athletes Bohdan Bondarenko and Andriy Protsenko, with whom he had performed several times.
Tamberi won a bronze medal in Serbia.
"I am very glad that I won the bronze medal at the World Championships. It was a difficult tournament. Tribute to Bondarenko and Protsenko. I wanted to jump for them as well," said the Italian athlete.
