Hungarian fighters “Gripens” were scrambled on the afternoon of March 21 in response to an unidentified aircraft that flew into the country's airspace from Ukraine.

This was reported by Hungary Today with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Hungary.

“NATO's Joint Air Operations Command has ordered jets to be scrambled after a plane bound for Slovakia appeared on radars in the eastern part of the country. “Gripens” patrolled the area and were convinced of the airspace safety before returning to its base in Kecskemét," - the Hungarian Ministry said.

It is noted that this is the third time Hungarian fighters are scrambled in alarm since Saturday, March 19.

So, on Saturday night, the fighters had to fly over a civilian Airbus A321 from Georgia to Poland, as an aircraft in Romanian airspace signaled the threat of an explosion.

At dawn on Monday, March 21, Hungarian fighters scrambled again due to the threat of an explosion. A civilian plane of the Turkish company, flying from Moscow to Istanbul, signaled the threat of an explosion over Polish airspace. Upon arrival in Hungarian airspace, the plane with Turkish identification marks was identified by the fighters and then delivered to the Hungarian-Romanian border, where it left Hungarian airspace.

Earlier, on March 21, a russian fighter-bomber entered Polish airspace. The incident occurred immediately after the Polish leadership had announced the possible deployment of Polish peacekeepers to Ukraine.
