Ukraine defence minister: "The only option is to withstand onslaught by Mordor"

The first month of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a period of war that began with Russia's attack on Crimea more than eight years ago, will go down in history as a "month of invincibility." The Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian people withstood a blow that could have destroyed many. But not us.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense Olexiy Reznikov who thanked all our defenders, all citizens who work in their place for the life of the country.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Defense noted that Ukraine is still facing a "very difficult period." However, it is already possible to draw conclusions about the combat effectiveness of the Ukrainian army, teritorial defense, the National Guard and the people's resistance.

"Our soldiers have already hit more than 100 Russian planes and more than 125 helicopters, more than 520 tanks and more than 1,500 armored vehicles. The total loss of the enemy - killed, wounded, captured and missing - is already more than 40,000 people. The number of deserters is increasing," wrote Reznikov on his Facebook page on the morning of 24 March.

The minister stressed that the Russian military machine will not stop until it is drenched in the blood of its soldiers. Russian society is already experiencing some consequences, but it is intimidated and passive.

"Our only way is to withstand the onslaught of Mordor. Because of pain, fear, loss. Through all the obstacles and misfortunes," he said.

Oleksiy Reznikov stated that the Ukrainian army has withstood and strengthened at the expense of the reserve, restrains the enemy and is moving to active defense. Its international support is gradually increasing.

Reznikov believes that the main thing now is for the economy to work, which is "gradually being transferred to the military rails," for systems, neccessary for survival to work, and for logistics to work. "There are difficulties here that we are not going to hide and we perceive them as a task to be solved," the minister explained.

"We will drive enemies out. We will rebuild everything. We will clean our land from the consequences of the war. It will require us to exert all our strength and time. As long as we are united, we will overcome everything," the Ukrainian defense minister concluded.
