The European Commission and the Government of Canada have launched a global program ‘Stand up for Ukraine’ to financially support Ukraine.
This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Twitter.
“Dear President Zelensky, you have asked the international community to join in supporting brave people - and we have heard you. Today we are launching #StandUpForUkraine," she said.
The program mobilizes governments, companies and citizens to raise financial aid for Ukraine.
The European Commission's website states the program is aimed at helping people who were forced to leave their homes due to the war. As of now, about 10 million Ukrainians have moved to other cities or countries due to the russian attack. 6.5 million people are internally displaced, the rest 3.5 million (including 2 million children) fled abroad.
Шановний Президенте @ZelenskyyUa, ви попросили міжнародну спільноту приєднатися до підтримки хоробрих людей – і ми вас почули.
