The United Nations is receiving data confirming the existence of mass graves in Mariupol. CNN reports that today the Head of the UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights, Matilda Bogner, made a correspondent statement.
Bogner said that at least one of the mass graves became known from satellite images. The estimated number of the dead in the grave reaches 200 people.
"We have not established yet if all those buried are civilian victims of war because when we document civilian victims, we do not consider militaries who died, and those who died of causes other than war actions,"noted Bogner.
Bogner said that the death rate has risen due to lack of access to basic needs – food, water, heat.
Today it became known that as a result of the missile attack on the Drama Theater of Mariupol on 16 March 2022, about 300 people died. This information will be further clarified as the dismantling of the rubble is still going on.
Russian invaders continue shelling Mariupol and blocking humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians while taking the city's residents to filtration camps in Russia.
