“Mariupol is the second Aleppo”. In such a way French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Yves Le Drian described the actions of russian troops in the Ukrainian city according to The Guardian. The head of the foreign ministry called for immediate help to the sieged city. He mentioned that the West should collectively react to the situation around Mariupol and take urgent measures.

“If the West does nothing to help civilians in sieged Mariupol, it will be a collective fault”, the minister said in his speech in Doha.

“Military siege is an awful way of waging way as civilians are being massacred. The suffering is terrible”, said Le Drian.

Aleppo is a Syrian city that was almost completely destroyed during an attack by the Assad regime and the russian troops supporting it from the air. Aleppo was also under siege.
