Information about large fires in the Chornobyl zone is outdated for several days

The most of fires in the Chornobyl zone were put out, no large fires are observed now. Information about large forest fires in the exclusion zone is several days out of date.

Vadym Denysenko, the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, informed about this on air of a telethon on Monday, March 28.

"As for the fires, there is a lot of information about the large fires in the Chornobyl zone. This is a bit outdated information, because in fact a few days ago there were fires in large areas, up to 8,000 hectares, and the Russians did not let our firefighters put those fires out. "Fortunately, we managed to put out these fires," Denysenko was quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.

He pointed out that the background radiation in Kyiv and Kyiv region remains normal.

"Recently, a lot of outdated information from several days ago has been repeated. As of now, the situation with fires in the Chornobyl zone is more or less stable, and there are no large fires," the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs said.

As the State Emergency Service of Ukraine informed, there were no fires in the exclusion zone and zone of mandatory resettlement as of 7:57 on March 28 according to satellite images, heat emissions, and their capacities.

The SES asked not to repost unverified information.

Please be reminded that the Ministry of Environment informed that the fires in the exclusion zone covered more than 10,000 hectares on Saturday, March 26 due to the actions of the Russian occupiers.

Oleksandr Pavliuk, the Head of the Kyiv Region Military Administration, said yesterday that the Russians continued to militarize the Chernobyl zone, which could cause radioactive dust contamination in European countries.
