Peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will not automatically lift sanctions on Russia.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, while in Madrid, according to the television and radio company NOS.
He met with the Spanish leadership here to discuss the war in Ukraine and the situation in the European energy market.
"Peace agreement, concluded under the gun, is not a way to return to normal life," Rutte said.
Speaking at the Prado National Museum, Dutch Prime Minister recalled the situation in Spain during the Franco dictatorship and said this is not what "we can allow in the 21st century in Europe".
In this context, Rutte called Putin a man "guided by revanchism and revisionism."
Recently British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a similar statement - that the ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine will not be enough to lift sanctions against the aggressor country.
