Bodies of Bucha residents killed by Russians have been lying in streets for more than three weeks – The New York Times

Satellite images show that people were killed exactly during the Russian occupation.

The analysis of satellite images refute Russian claims that civilians were killed in Bucha after Russian soldiers left the city.

This is stated in The New York Times material. When on weekends the images of dead civilians lying on the streets of Bucha appeared, some with their hands tied behind their backs and some with gunshot wounds to the head, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the bodies had recently been "laid out on the street after Russian units completely left Bucha."

Russia declared that these images are another "fake" and tried to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on so-called by Russia "provocations of Ukrainian radicals" in Bucha.

However, the video analysis and satellite images published by The Times shows that many civilians were killed more than three weeks ago when the Russian militaries controlled the city.

The video taken by a local council deputy, on April 2, shows bodies scattered over Yablonska Street in Bucha.

Satellite images provided by Maxar Technologies shows that at least 11 bodies have been on the streets since March 11, when Russia, according to its statements, occupied the city.

To confirm when the bodies appeared and when civilians were probably killed, The Times` visual investigation team analyzed “before” and “after” satellite images. The images show dark objects similar in size to the human body, which appeared on Yablonska Street between March 9 and 11. As footage from April 2 shows, the objects appear in the positions where the bodies were found after the Ukrainian troops took over Bucha. Further analysis shows that the objects remained in this position for more than three weeks.

The second video, shot on Yablonska Street, shows three more bodies. One body is lying next to a bicycle, the other one near an abandoned car. Satellite images show that abandoned cars and nearby lying body appear between March 20 and 21.

After the city's liberation, the Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk published information about the Bucha residents mass executions and a mass grave. Following the war crimes evidence publication committed by Russian troops in Bucha, Germany proposed to establish a tribunal to punish the perpetrators, similar to the one existed in Yugoslavia.

On April 4, Ukrainian intelligence released a list of occupiers responsible for the atrocities in Bucha.
