The Spanish Government has decided to expel 25 diplomats and employees of the russian Embassy in Madrid in response to war crimes committed by the russian military in the cities of Kyiv region. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Jose Manuel Albarez informed about this, El Pais said.

“We decided to expel russian diplomats and employees of the rf Embassy in Spain, which pose a threat to the security interests of our country, and after the horrific actions that have taken place in recent days in Ukraine, especially in Bucha," Albares explained after the Council of Ministers.

He noted that the list is still being finalized.

“This action is a part of the European process which has already been supported by Belgium, Poland, Chech Republic, the Netherlands and, in the last few hours, by France, Germany, Denmark, Italy and European External Action Service,” the Minister informed. He also added that Spain demands immediate investigation of the military crimes that were committed by russians in Ukraine, and punishment of the guilty.

Denmark expels 15 officers of russian intelligence that, according to the Government data, spied against the country.

France expels 35 russian diplomats whose activities are contrary to the security interests of the country.

Earlier, the German Federal Government had declared 40 russian diplomats persona non grata. 30 diplomats were expelled by Italy as well.
