"Every Bucha will make any talks harder but we need to find opportunities" - Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi has reiterated that he is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin but does not rule out that it may not take place. The President said this in an interview with journalists, which was broadcast during the information telethon, UNIAN reports.

He said that it is impossible to forgive the actions of the Russian occupiers in Ukraine.

"Every such tragedy, every such Bucha will just make it harder as regards any negotiations. And here we still need to find opportunities for such steps. We want to have a stronger position at these talks," he said.

According to the President, it is necessary for Ukraine to have a stronger position in negotiations than Russia, so we need unity in society, and powerful weapons for our country.

The President of Ukraine stressed that "actions must be chosen."

"Whether we like it or not [negotiations - tr.], this will not be the question. The issue of negotiations will be the same. The only question is how strong we will be at the negotiation table. And it depends on these important points," he said.

According to Zelensky, believing that negotiations with Putin are not necessary today is the "easiest" position.

"Just saying 'let's not talk about anything' is the easiest position, the most difficult is to say what they did, to recognize them as enemies, to recognize that this is Russia's war against Ukraine, that this is genocide, that they must be punished for it, and with all this to find opportunities to meet. And in this meeting to find a way out of this situation. And in this way out not to lose our territory. We need to set this bar for these negotiations - and then will be what will be. It may happen that there will be no meeting (with Putin, - LB.ua)."

He emphasized the need to set such a bar for the negotiations.

"And then will be what will be. It may happen that there will be no meeting. It may happen," Zelenskyi said.

Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi approved the composition of the delegation to participate in negotiations with Russia on the preparation and approval of a draft agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
