The head of state also informed Macron about countering Russian aggression and emphasized that France’s initiative on humanitarian corridors from Mariupol must be implemented.
Earlier, after the meeting of the European Council, Emmanuel Macron announced that he wanted to conduct a humanitarian operation together with Turkey and Greece to evacuate people from Mariupol. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias, confirmed that he intends to accompany the humanitarian mission to the Ukrainian city personally.
Macron conducted talks with the mayor of Mariupol and Ukrainian authorities on evacuation and then announced that he planned on talking with the aggressor country.
On March 30, it was revealed that the French President, who had a phone call with Putin the day before, could not negotiate the evacuation of people from Mariupol.
