The russian federation has turned its veto power in the UN Security Council into a “right of death” [for Ukraine]. If the United Nations cannot eliminate russia as a source of war, it must eliminate itself. Because not only Ukraine, but the whole world needs peace.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council convened over the atrocities of the russians in Bucha.

"We are dealing with a country that is turning the UN Security Council's veto right into a right to die. Undermining the whole architecture of global security that allows evil to go unpunished and infiltrate the world, destroying everything that can work for peace and security," said the Head of the Ukrainian state.

Zelensky stressed that if this continues, each country will be able to rely only on the strength of weapons to ensure its security, and not on international law and institutions.

"Ukraine has every moral right to propose a reform of the world security system. We have proved that we help others not only in happiness, but also in dark times," said Volodymyr Zelensky.

Now our country, he reminded, needs decisions from the Security Council to achieve peace. There are several options for this.

"Either eliminate russia as a source of war so that russia does not block decisions related to its own aggression, and then we will do everything to establish peace. The second option is to withdraw. If, apart from talks, you are not capable of anything, there is no option left. Ukraine needs peace, Europe needs peace, the whole world needs peace," the President of Ukraine stressed.

Zelenskyy proposed convening an international conference in Kyiv to determine how to continue to maintain world peace.

Yesterday the UN Security Council rejected the requirement of the russian federation to hold meeting about "gross provocation of the Ukrainian radicals in Bucha". The United Kingdom used its veto power.
