Russia does not need the Luhansk region with people, they just want to seize the territory to report to Putin about occupying the region within its geographical boundaries.
This was announced by the Head of Regional Military Administration of Luhansk Serhiy Hayday.
“Orcs do not need the Luhansk region, cities in general. They need a checkmark at the border. They don't care about people at all. One fact. If there was an ounce of humanity left, they would contact us: we give 2-3 days to evacuate the civilians. But that didn't happen. Moreover, despite all our attempts to make humanitarian corridors even where they agreed, orcs still did not stop firing,” - the Head of RMA said.
Despite this, the authorities have managed to evacuate about 30,000 civilians from the region alone, not counting the data from volunteers and evacuees on their own.
According to available data for the morning of April 8, shelling in the Luhansk region is constant: fighting in Rubizhne and heavy shelling in Popasna. The city is simply pelted with mines, artillery, MLRS “Grad”, BM-30 “Smerch” and aircraft bombing.
“They just wipe everything off the face of the earth there. They want it to be easy to pass this territory, this town when they go on the offensive. So now the increase in shelling is just enormous,” - the Head of RMA stated.
“We feel the end of preparations for that massive breakthrough, for that great battle that will take place in Luhansk and Donetsk. There are constant attempts by the enemy to break through the line of defense in certain directions. Yesterday there was a battle in Rubizhne for almost the whole day, from 4 a.m., and it ended only late in the evening. Thank God, good for our defenders: they shot down several tanks and APCs and destroyed up to 50 enemies. We can see that there is an increase in shelling, bombing and attempted attacks, but it is not yet a breakthrough,” - he explained.
