Russia cannot occupy the entire territory of Donbas, so it continues terror against the civilian population, said Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President.
"Russia cannot occupy the entire territory of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding defense, so the Kremlin continues to use terror. They are shelling houses in Sievierodonetsk, killing civilians at Kramatorsk railway station. They want to exterminate people and the cities, but this tactic will not work. Russia will break its teeth," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
"There are many of them, they are like locusts, but they will not win in Donbas. Ukraine will not withdraw and will not give up sovereignty and territorial integrity," he added.
The head of the President's Office also noted that it was still impossible to count the number of crimes committed by russians during the occupation of Mariupol.
"So far, we can only imagine the number of crimes and the horror we will see later in Mariupol… I heard someone speaking live had compared Mariupol with Stalingrad. I did not like this comparison. We must all understand that russia's aggression against Ukraine is unique, as well as its crimes against peaceful people and genocide are also unique to the world. There will be no common 'our Stalingrad' – after the victory, there will be Mariupol, Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodyanka," Yermak said.
He also added that all evidence of war crimes would be transferred to The Hague.
"There will be a memory of Ukrainian victims, our historical memory, which we will not allow to be blurred by such comparisons," the head of the President's Office said.
As reported earlier, the russian troops are currently regrouping to concentrate on the attack on Donbas and take Mariupol, which "will provide a land corridor to the occupied Crimea". The Russians have never allowed humanitarian aid to be delivered to Mariupol during the last month, even after numerous "green corridor" agreements. The enemy has also started banning the evacuation of Mariupol residents even on their vehicles; men are being sent to the occupied territories of russia.
On April 8 morning, Russian troops launched two missile strikes at the Kramatorsk railway station, where about 4,000 people were awaiting evacuation, mostly women, children, and the elderly. As a result of the shelling, 38 people died on the spot, 14 more later died in hospitals, and more than 100 people were hospitalized.
Kramatorsk railway station is closed because of the damage. Still, the evacuation of Donbas residents will continue from Slovyansk and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and Novozolotarivka station in the Luhansk region.
