Priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate demand to convene theinternational church tribunal against ROC Patriarch Kirill.
The statement of the priests was made public by Archpriest Andriy Pinchuk, director of the St. John's Center Charitable Institution.
They decided to appeal to the Council of the Primates of the Ancient Eastern Churches against Kirill.
According to the priests, Kirill is accused of preaching the doctrine of ‘russian world’, which is inconsistent with Orthodox teachings and should be condemned as heresy. Also, Kyrylo committed moral crimes, blessing the war against Ukraine and fully supporting the aggressive actions of russian troops in Ukraine.
"We hope that the Council of Primates of the Ancient Eastern Churches will consider our appeal and make its fair judgment”, the statement said.
In the history of russian church there was only one precedent for appealing to the court of the Eastern patriarchs. In 1666, the Eastern Patriarchs condemned the Moscow Patriarch Nikon, depriving him of his patriarchate and episcopal rank. Nikon was left a simple monk and sent to repentance in the monastery.
Earlier, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office exposed and detained a clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate for cooperation with the aggressor country, russian federation.
Most Ukrainians support the state banning the UOC-MP. This is evidenced by the data of the national poll ‘Ukraine in war’, published by the sociological group ‘Rating’.
