Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine [SSU] detained an agent of the Russian special services, who worked in the administration of the former President and other State structures.

This was reported by the SSU press service and released a video where the traitor talks about his missions.

The detainee admitted that since 2014 he has worked for the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. He was recruited by enemy special services after he fled from Donetsk to Bilhorod.

Russian curators gave him the pseudonym "Regin" and ordered him to obtain classified information of the state level.

“For this purpose, they even helped to make a career in the Ukrainian Authorities. In particular, this agent worked in Court, later in one of the Departments of the former President's Administration, and then he served in the Army. Enemy special services also paid for his training and trips abroad. In addition to secret information, the traitor collected compromising information about officials of various levels and their relatives. This should become a lever for their further recruitment by Russian special services," the SSU said.

With the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the aggressor country’s intelligence gave errands to the detainee to gather information about the Security Structures, information about the latest models of weapons and military equipment, etc.

"In the course of the special operation, officers of the Kharkiv Security Service intercepted the agent's communication channel, established his location and captured the traitor in the Donetsk region. During the interrogation, the agent told in detail about instructions he received from the enemy, provided information about people of interest to Russians, as well as personal data of members of the Russian Federation's intelligence network in Ukraine known to him," said in the Security Service.

Appropriate measures are being taken with the detainee to establish the whole chain of traitors and collaborators working for Russia.

The agent faces life imprisonment.

"It should be noted that Russia has recently intensified its deeply secret agents to use them in the war with Ukraine. But the Security Service effectively counteracted this. For example, only last week the SSU exposed several such traitors," stressed in the Ukrainian department.

Few days ago, the SSU reported suspicions to the deputy of the City Council of Mariupol from OPFL, whom occupiers declared "the mayor".

Last week, the Security Service neutralized a network of enemy correctors and a collaborator who was preparing "lists" for destruction.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, since 2014, more than 2,000 cases of treason have been registered in Ukraine.
