The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has exposed and eliminated russian espionage networks in Ukraine and continues to document the crimes of former local government officials in the Eastern Ukraine, who cooperate with Russia authorities and military, as reported on the SSU official webpage.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, SSU exposed an agent of the russian intelligence services and special forces, who was found collecting data on the locations of strategically important infrastructure in the region and military units. He transferred the data to russian curators via well-established communication channels and a close relative who lives in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region.

Russian military used this information for missile attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk region.

SSU officers detained an agent “on the job” collecting data on a Ukrainian military facility for the next planned missile strike by russian military.

In Sumy, the head of one of the non-governmental organizations turned out to be an agent of the russian special forces and tried to pass on to russians detailed lists of Ukrainian activists and local Territorial Defense soldiers.

Russians planned to use this information to abduct, torture and kill Ukrainians, and to suppress national resistance in the region. SSU detained the traitor “on the job”.

Two more spies were detained in the Donetsk region. They collected data on the location and movement of Ukrainian troops, and then passed on to their curators. SSU established that a so-called Member of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic was one of the russian agents.

In addition, the SSU continues to expose saboteurs in the temporarily occupied territories, including ex-official of local administrations in the eastern Ukraine. In particular, the former Head of the Stanychno-Luhansk village community sided with russians. SSU established that he helped to establish the occupation regime in the region and issue russian passports to local residents. He also organized the illegal redesign of main infrastructure units in favor of the russian forces. In turn, russians promised him a top position in the local administration after they took control of the region.

SSU also exposed one of the local Members of the Ukrainian Party «Opposition Platform — For Life», who appeared to be a self-proclaimed Chairman of the Volnovakha City Council of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic.

Traitors face up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, SSU exposed another russian espionage network and a group of saboteurs, who assisted in targeting and kidnaping Ukrainian citizens.
