The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced imposing sanctions on 398 russian citizens and 28 organizations from russian federation in response to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, reports Suspilne with reference to Japan MOFA website.
“In order to support international peace and security and join in with international efforts for peace, Japan is freezing assets of 398 russian individuals and 28 organizations,” states Japan MOFA.
Japan imposed sanctions on 385 State Duma members, alleged Putin’s daughters Katerina Tikhonova and Maria Vorontsova. The list of sanctioned individuals includes wife and daughter of the head of the MOFA of russia, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Yevmenov, his deputy Vladimir Kasatonov, commander-in-chief of the Black Sea Fleet Igor Osipov, commander-in-chief of russian Ground Forces Oleg Salyukov.
Furthermore, Japan decided to freeze assets of russia’s biggest banks Sberbank and Alfa-Bank, as well as prohibit direct investment in russia (since 12 May those will require special permission) and ban imports of certain russian goods.
6 April, USA imposed sanctions against Putin’s daughters, Lavrov’s family.
7 April, Japan announced a reduction in imports of Russian coal and vodka.
