The European Police Agency has announced the initiation of an operation to identify assets of russian individuals and legal entities that are subject to sanctions due to the war in Ukraine.

This was reported on the website of Europol.

EU member states, European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust), European Border Police and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) are conducting the operation named "Oscar" together.

It will last at least a year and include several separate investigations.

The operation aims to " facilitate the exchange of information and intelligence data between partners, and provide operational support in several financial investigations into criminal assets and circumventing EU economic sanctions implemented in connection with russia's military aggression."

Russian oligarch Mordashov, who is close to Putin, hid his 142-meter yacht in Seychelles. Another of his yachts, the 63-meter "Lady M," was seized by Italian authorities as part of EU sanctions imposed on Mordashov over russia's military aggression in Ukraine.

Also, earlier, as part of sanctions, France took control over the yacht of Rosneft CEO Ihor Siechin. In their turn, the German authorities arrested the yacht of the russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov.
