The United Kingdom has cut all tariffs and restrictions on Ukrainian exports under a free trade agreement that was to become effective for Ukraine only in 2023
As "Ukrainska Pravda" informs, the press service of the UK government reported it.
Thus, all the tariffs and quotas covered by the trade agreement between the UK and Ukraine, first of all, agricultural and industrial products, have been cut. The UK government noted that this step would "provide Ukraine with economic support in difficult times."
The decision was made in response to a direct request from the Ukrainian government to liberalize tariffs. "Removing tariffs on key Ukrainian exports including barley, honey, tinned tomatoes, and poultry will help Ukrainian businesses and producers when they need it most," said the International Trade Secretary of the UK.
In addition, the UK has also announced an export ban on products and technology that Russia could use to repress the heroic people of Ukraine. Such goods include interception and monitoring equipment. "This will close any existing loopholes to ensure that Russia is not buying these goods from the UK," the Trade Secretary added.
At the beginning of April, Boris Johnson announced that the United Kingdom would hand over weapons to Ukraine worth another 100 million pounds, including Starstreak air-defense systems.
On 23 April 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, discussed a new batch of military assistance to Ukraine, including the transfer of heavy weapons.
