The White House declared that the new aid package for Ukraine requested by President Joe Biden would probably be a part of a longer-term package that would require approval from Congress, reported Reuters.
Last week, President Biden said he would seek congressional approval for an additional assistance package for Ukraine, after announcing $800 million in military aid.
The US State Department also approved the purchase and subsequent supply to Ukraine of $165 million worth of munitions, including artillery shells and missiles compatible with Soviet-made weapons.
During the visit of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to Kyiv, US officials announced additional military assistance to Ukraine of $322 million.
