The Russian military is using the "regime of silence" to break the defenses of Mariupol, reported UNIAN citing the commander of the regiment "Azov" Svyatoslav "Kalina" Palamar.
"As of now, they have been trying to use the regime of silence, to advance, to break through our defensive lines. There are attempts to storm. Their attempts are so far unsuccessful. Our guys are repelling these attacks," Palamar said.
In addition, the Russians continue to shell the military field hospital, where many people are, for the second day.
"The operating room where the operating instruments were stored has crumbled. This is a big problem; there are many injured people among the already wounded. Some wounded have died, there are wounded among the hospital staff," said Sviatoslav Palamar.
He expressed hope that an evacuation convoy would arrive in Mariupol shortly to pick up the seriously injured.
Hundreds of civilians remain at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. They came to the plant's shelter in February, when Russia's full-scale offensive began. They are still waiting for the evacuation, which the enemy does not allow.
The Russians offered to surrender to the military, but they continued to fight.
According to the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, an attempt to evacuate civilians from the plant was planned for today. There are no updates on the process.
