According to preliminary estimates, approximately 45% of the residents have Kherson since March, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA) Hennadiy Lahuta said in an interview to Ukrinform.

“The occupants loot, kill, rape, so peaceful citizens can`t stand it, they are very scared and forced to leave their homes,” Hennadiy Lahuta informed.

He added that the occupants did`t allow to arrange official green corridors, and people risked their lives and left in convoys they organized themselves. At first the route was through Oleksandrivka and Snihurivka, and after the occupants closed them – through Davydiv Brid to Kryvyi Rih. However, this road has been closed for more than a week.

“I know that in villages [people] even walked, rode bicycles, swam across the river. They left all their property, houses, cattle,” Head of the Kherson RMA told.

Lahuta specified that most of the residents evacuated in Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk directions.

The team of the Kherson RMA every day tries to reach an agreement on opening the corridors from the communities that have suffered the most (Vysokopillia, Novovorontsovka, Velyka Oleksandrivka, Kalynivske). Unfortunately, the occupants don`t let people by and threaten to execute them.

It was reported earlier that 2100 residents evacuated on their own from the villages of Vysokopilska community in Kherson region, part of which is occupied by russians.

Today, on May 9, the Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine informed that the occupants in Kherson are looking for the lists of abandoned flats where they plan to accommodate their military. Russians also want to force prisoners from Kherson to fight against the Ukrainian Armed Forces and plan to conduct forced mobilization among the Ukrainians.
