Soldiers of the Donetsk border detachment together with their comrades continue the defense of Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
This was announced on Monday, May 9, by the head of the border detachment, Colonel Valery Padytel, in a video distributed by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The Mariupol Defense Forces continue to defend the city of heroes. Border guards of the Donetsk Border Detachment, the Marine Guard Detachment, colleagues from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the police continue to perform their duties. Alas, we are in very tough conditions, inhuman... Same time we continue to defend our land. And we feel the steps the military-political leadership of the state is taking. We know, that we have not been forgotten. We are in daily contact with the leadership of the department [SBGS, - ed.] ", - said Valery Padytel.
The head of the Donetsk border detachment stated that the duty of Azovstal defenders is to protect the state, restore its integrity, "do everything to make the people defending the city proud in the future."
"I want to assure you that the truth is on our side, faith is on our side, God is on our side, the victory will be ours. Glory to Ukraine," said Colonel Padytel.
Yesterday, Azov fighters during a press conference called on politicians to intensify efforts on a ceasefire and evacuation from Azovstal.
The President's Office assured that if there was at least one opportunity to unblock Mariupol, the UAF would use it.
