Russia can be deprived of its membership and voting rights in the WHO if it fails to comply with the requirements of the organization's resolution.
This was reported by the Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.
«Ukraine has once again heard a confident 88 "YES" from true friends who voted "FOR" the resolution presented by Ukraine at the 75th session of the World Health Assembly. Our resolution establishes a mechanism for further isolation of russia, including through the deprivation of membership rights and the voting right in the WHO in case of non-compliance with the requirements of the resolution», Lyashko said.
According to the resolution, the WHO called on russia to immediately stop the attack and shelling of health facilities in Ukraine, to ensure the protection of personnel, respect for the sick and wounded.
The organization also decided to increase the value of contribution of each member country to the relevant fund. Funds from it are directed to help Ukraine and those countries that accept Ukrainian refugees.
After the invasion of Ukraine, the Council of Europe suspended russia's membership.
In May, the Czech Republic joined the UN Human Rights Council after russia was expelled from the Council for military aggression against Ukraine.
