Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has discussed with russian President Vladimir Putin ways to resolve the food crisis.
This was reported by "European Pravda" with reference to the press services of the governments of Italy and russia.
«Discussions focused on the development of the situation in Ukraine and efforts to find a common solution to the ongoing food crisis and its serious consequences for the world's poorest countries», the Italian government said in a statement.
At the same time, the Kremlin press service emphasizes that Putin considers the accusations against russia of problems with the supply of agricultural products to world markets unfounded.
According to the President of russia, disruptions in the production and logistics chains began during the COVID-19 and intensified after the imposition of sanctions against russia.
In the meantime, the statement does not state that the sanctions were imposed due to russia's military invasion of Ukraine.
Putin claims that russia is ready to export grain and fertilizers subject to the removal of "politically motivated restrictions from the West."
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba urged not to succumb to russia's blackmail about a "corridor" for the Ukrainian harvest across the Black Sea in exchange for lifting sanctions.
