The invaders want to surround the Ukrainian troops in the areas of Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk and reach the administrative border of Luhansk region.

The russian army is conducting active hostilities in the Lyman, Sievierodonetsk, Bakhmut, Kurakhiv and Avdiivka directions.

This was reported in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Command says that the main goal of the occupiers is to surround our troops in the areas of Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk and reach the administrative border of the Luhansk region.

As of 18:00 on May 28, the situation in other areas is as follows:

- until August 31, Belarus has imposed temporary restrictions on entry and stay in the border areas with Ukraine (the Brahin, Loyew and Khoiniki Districts) in the Gomel region. This is done for the strengthened administrative-police and counter-intelligence regimes;

- in the Siversky direction, the russian federation keeps troops on the section of the russian-Ukrainian border in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. The invaders fired mortars four times at the positions of the Border Guards in the areas of the settlements of Seredyna-Buda, Stari Vyrky and Znob-Trubchevska. And the operational and tactical aircraft from the airspace of the Kursk region fired a missile at a civilian industrial facility in the Sumy region;

- in order to clarify the position of Ukrainian troops, russia conducted air reconnaissance with the help of UAVs in Chernihiv and Sumy regions;

- in the Kharkiv direction, the russian army prevents the advance of Ukrainian defenders and continues the engineering equipment of the positions in the area west of the settlement of Kozacha Lopan;

- in the Sloviansk direction, the occupiers continue to transfer weapons, military equipment and other material resources from the territory of the russian federation to the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region by rail. After conducting reconnaissance with unmanned aerial vehicles, the enemy fired artillery at the positions of our troops in the settlements of Nova Dmytrivka, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Dovhenke, Dibrova and struck with helicopters in the area of Dovhenke. The invaders tried to advance with the support of artillery in the area of the settlement of Pasika, but were unsuccessful and withdrew;

- in the Lyman direction, enemy assault aircraft struck three airstrikes near the village of Dibrova;

- in the Sievierodonetsk direction, the russian army launched an offensive in the direction of Borivsky, suffered losses and retreated to previously occupied positions;

- in the Bakhmut direction, the russians are trying unsuccessfully to improve their tactical position in the areas of Komyshuvakha and Novoluhanske. Fighting continues;

- in the Avdiivka direction, the occupiers inflicted intense artillery strikes along the entire line of contact. Hostilities are still ongoing. Avdiivka, Vesele and Kamyanka were attacked by enemy assault aircraft;

- in the Kurakhiv, Novopavliv, and Zaporizhzhia directions, russian troops fought counter-battery and fired on Ukrainian troops;

- in the Southern Bug direction, rashists focus their main efforts on maintaining the occupied frontiers;

- two carriers of cruise missiles, naval-base type Caliber, are ready for use in the Black Sea.

The General Staff also reported that as a result of the offensive of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, russian occupation troops suffered losses and occupied the defense near Avdiivka, Lozove and Bilohorka in the Kherson Oblast. The fighting continues.

"The russian occupiers fired on civilian infrastructure in the settlements of Pribuzke, Posad-Pokrovske, Blahodatne, Osokorivka, Novovorontsovka, Novooleksandrivka and others. The enemy continues to increase the air defense system with the help of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems," the Headquarters added.

According to the Head of the Ministry of Defense, Ukraine received 155 mm of self-propelled artillery systems M109 of one of the modifications.

As of May 28, the russian army had lost 30,000 of its soldiers in Ukraine.
