Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was scheduled to have a telephone conversation with Ukrainian and russian Presidents Vladimir Zelenskiy and vladimir putin on Monday (May 30th).
Erdogan explained that he would first voice his request to maintain channels for dialogue and diplomacy in order to be able to achieve peace in Ukraine through negotiations. The Turkish president told reporters on board the presidential plane on his way back from Baku.
On May 18, representatives of the families of Mariupol defenders visited the Turkish capital Ankara and asked to help save the lives of their relatives and all servicemen who were at the Azovstal plant. Turkey has acted as a mediator in negotiations on the evacuation of the seriously wounded from Azov.
Earlier, Recep Tayyip Erdogan appealed to putin to allow Azov's defenders to be taken to Turkey via the port of Berdyansk.
