The European Police Agency plans to set up an international working group to deal with weapons that may fall into the hands of criminals after the end of the war in Ukraine, stated by Europol Executive Director Catherine de Bolle, writes Deutsche Welle.

"Someday the war will end. We want to avoid the situation that existed 30 years ago with the war in the Balkans. Weapons used in that war are still used by criminal groups,” she told the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

De Bolle said that Europol was aware of the covert activity of people entering the EU from Ukraine and vice versa, known for their terrorist and extremist views and ready to use violence.

"The situation is very dynamic and fragmented, and we are getting different numbers from our European partners. People who go to Ukraine are a heterogeneous group, whose members differ in experience and ideology," said de Bolle.

She also said that the monitoring is being conducted on persons who have returned from Ukraine and "who have not been able to cope with the brutality of the military reality."

Nytimes.com and CNN reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is preparing to approve the transfer of the Multiple Launch Rocket System [MLRS] to Ukraine, which is now the main request of Ukrainian officials. This may be announced this week.
