The seventh package of European Union sanctions against russia will be approved but without the gas embargo.
Ukrinform reported this with reference to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
"It is because some countries have a critical dependence on russian gas and still need to find certain technological solutions," - he said.
He added that when he hears partners talking about the impossibility of a gas embargo against russia, he asks them how they plan to conduct the transition to "green energy." As the EU's official policy is to refuse gas altogether, it is clear that the argument supporting the impossibility of a gas embargo is hypocritical and weak.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is glad about the European Council's approval of the sixth package of sanctions against the russian federation, which includes an important decision to implement an embargo on purchasing russian oil.
