The historic All Saints Hermitage of the Svyatogorsk Lavra caught fire from enemy shelling

As a result of enemy shelling on 4 June, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the All Saints Hermitage of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra (Donetsk region).

Information about this was reported to the UOC-MP.

“The flame completely engulfed the main church of the monastery,” noted the information and education department of the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate.

Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko added that “in addition to the monastery brothers and sisters, there were about 300 refugees in the church, including the disabled, the elderly, about 60 children, including infants.”

Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra is located in Svyatogorsk. The hermitage was consecrated in 1912.

This is not the first shelling of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra, which is a refuge for refugees from russian armed aggression.

On 4 May, four people were injured in an attack on the monastery.

On 30 May, two monks and a nun, were killed in the shelling. Three more monks were wounded.
