Far-range artillery tops the wishlist. This will enable the army to reach the enemy at a distance and save Ukrainian troops' lives.

The Russian army continues to have an advantage in both hardware and personnel in some areas, including in such a hotspot as Severodonetsk.

In some areas, the Russians have 10 times more military hardware than Ukrainians, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, has said.

"The Ukrainian army's needs are no secret. Above all, these are artillery systems whose state-of-the-art versions are in the arsenal of the world's leading countries and NATO member-states. We need artillery, combat vehicles. We need planes. We need counter-battery systems. We believe that when Ukraine gets what it needs, this will ensure a breakthrough in the situation that has formed by now. Give us weapons, Ukraine's Armed Forces will take care of the rest," he said.

Ukraine has already received some NATO-calibre artillery systems. Other weapons are expected to be delivered.

"The problem is that Ukraine's urgent need for this sort of weapons came as a surprise for many countries of the world. These countries had certain production commitments to other countries. And many countries were not ready to supply these weapons to us in the short term," he said.

As reported earlier, Norway sent 22 M109 self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine, together with spares and ammunition.
