As a result of the russian aggression in Ukraine, 116,000 residential buildings inhabited by about 3.5 million people were destroyed or damaged.

Svitlana Startseva, Deputy Director of the Department of Housing Policy and Improvement of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, made this announcement at a press conference, Ukrinform reports.

«As of June 1, 3.5 million Ukrainians have damaged or destroyed homes. It is about 116 thousand objects with a total area of 14 million square meters», she said.

Of these, multi-stage buildings - 12.3 thousand (12 million square meters), and individual estates - 104.1 thousand (1.7 million square meters).

3.8 thousand apartment buildings and 24.4 thousand private houses were slightly damaged (up to 25%).

«30,000 apartment buildings and 27.3 thousand private houses need to be restored through new construction. Overhaul or reconstruction - 58.5 thousand apartment buildings and 52.6 thousand private houses», Startseva said.

According to her, the total damage to the housing stock is currently being actively calculated. Previously, this amount already exceeds 100 billion hryvnias.

«But this work is not yet complete, we do not have access to facilities everywhere, there is no real information about the destruction, there is no assessment of relevant experts», she said.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has set up a special commission to audit the damage caused by russia's military aggression. The procedure for registering the destruction and damage to Ukrainian homes as a result of hostilities has been simplified.
