The sanctions of the US, allies, and partners against russia do have an effect, the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl emphasized as cited by the Pentagon's website.

"This year will wipe out the last 15 years of economic growth in russia and the impact of sanctions is only getting started," – he said.

He added that the export control the US imposed on russia will make it very difficult for the russian military to reconstitute their precision-guided munitions.

The American financier and investment management company Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio stated in an interview for Der Spiegel that economic pressure is the only weapon that the US can afford now even though the sanctions haven't forced Volodymyr Putin to stop the war yet.

The sanctions will endanger Putin's power if they collapse russia's economy by more than 40 percent, he noted.

The sixth sanctions package of the European Union against russia came into force on 3 June. The limitations include a ban on the import of crude oil and oil products from russia and disconnection from SWIFT of three more russian banks – Sberbank, Moscow credit bank, and russian Agricultural Bank ["Rosselkhozbank" – tr.]. Also, the broadcasting of the channels "russia 24", "russia RTR", and TVC is banned.
