High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell mentioned that the russian federation "will not disappear after the war, so the EU must learn to coexist with the aggressor country".

Borrell said that in his interview for the EU official journal.

He thinks that Europe has to define a concrete plan of contact. Borrell also commented on France's President Emmanuel Macron's call to "not humiliate russia".

"This coexistence will be very difficult after what russia did in Ukraine. It's invasion, aggression, and destruction of Ukraine. We've seen all of this on TV and I saw it myself on the site. But all the same, we will have to try to coexist with russians on this continent," – Borrell said.

At the same time, he mentioned that the channels of communication with russia "were never shut down".

"The Chancellor of Austria has recently been to Moscow, the African Union chairman is coming back from Sochi, and two ambassadors of the UN General Secretary are today in russia to try to find a solution for the Ukrainian grain exports problem. We have to continue negotiations with russia," – Borrell said.

Poland's Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki has previously criticized statements about the need to "save the face" of the rf's president Volodymyr Putin. The Polish Prime Minister commenting on the words of Macron, called on isolating the aggressor country's president instead of "saving his face", and the "russian world" ideology, in his opinion, should be eliminated.
