First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska has responded to a statement by former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters who urged her to "influence her husband" to end the war. Zelenska noted that Ukraine cannot refuse to defend its territories and its citizens, since in this case it will simply cease to exist.
“It is russia that has attacked Ukraine, destroying cities and killing people. Ukrainians are defending their country and the future of their children. If we give up the fight, we won't be here tomorrow. If the russian federation abandons the war, the war will end,” the first lady wrote on Twitter.
She added that Roger Waters should rather ask the president of another country for peace.
Earlier, a letter from Waters appeared in the public space, in which he asks Zelenska to “influence her husband” so that he “implements his election promises and ends the civil war in the East and brings peace to the Donbas.”
Previously, Waters had already been seen in the distribution of russian narratives. In particular, in an interview with CNN, he accused US President Biden of not trying to persuade Zelenskyy to negotiate with russia. The singer also added that NATO "provoked" Putin into going to war with Ukraine.
