Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal travelled to London for Queen Elizabeth's funeral. As part the visit, Zelenska spoke with Kate, the Princess of Wales.
According to The Daily Mail, Kate held an audience at Buckingham Palace.
The UK's ambassador in Kyiv, Melinda Simmons, said she was "deeply honoured" by the president's gesture "given all else that is happening in (Ukraine) at this time".
Zelenska's arrival in the UK had been hotly anticipated after it was confirmed that her husband, President Zelenskyy, would be remaining at home to lead the war effort.
Zelenska, Shmyhal and Ukraine's ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystayko, also visited Westminster Hall, where the late monarch is lying in state, today to pay their respects to Elizabeth II.
"The Queen enjoyed great public respect and loyalty in the United Kingdom. She was also admired far beyond the borders of the Kingdom, including in Ukraine. Most Ukrainians will remember Her Majesty because of a simple but important fact. She was the head of state who was among the first to lend a helping hand when Ukraine faced a barbaric Russian invasion," Shmyhal said on Telegram.
He added that the British were doing all they could to bring our victory closer.
"I am grateful to the government of the United Kingdom. I have no doubt that King Charles III will build on his mother's progress," Shmyhal said.
