American NASAMS air defence systems have not yet reached Ukraine. So far, Kyiv has received Washington's consent to their transfer, the spokesman for the President of Ukraine Serhiy Nykyforov said in a comment to "Suspilne".
"We received the decision, we received the consent, but NASAMS have not yet physically arrived," Nykyforov said.
President Zelenskyy said in an interview with CBS that the USA would give Ukraine NASAMS air defence systems.
The Ukrainian Air Force said that NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems will strengthen Ukraine's air defence. But it does not mean that the sky will be "closed" after they are received.
Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS) is a development of the Norwegian technology group Kongsberg and the American company Raytheon. The first generation of these systems was presented in 1998. The latest modification was created three years ago.
The launcher consists of six missiles. Each mobile launcher has six containers with anti-aircraft missiles, writes " Militarnyi".
The range of the anti-aircraft system in the NASAMS II configuration using AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles is up to 25 km and the height - up to 14-15 km.
According to the Pentagon, Ukraine should receive the systems approximately by mid-October.
