Lithuania has transferred and will transfer to Ukraine not only military equipment, but also winter uniforms for the army worth about 2m euros, Delfi has reported.

According to Lithuanian Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas, the clothes will be purchased from local companies and handed over to the Ukrainian military in the coming months. The uniforms will be purchased for almost 25,000 Ukrainian troops.

Despite the mobilisation announced by Putin, the threat level for Lithuania has not increased, but the country has responded by increasing the level of combat capability of the Rapid Response Forces.

Anušauskas added that "Putin's anti-Western rhetoric with nuclear threats" is an attempt to keep the West from supporting Ukraine. But despite this, Lithuania's assistance to Ukraine will remain significant.

"Currently, Lithuania's support with arms and other military equipment amounts to about 209m euros. Lithuania's support for Ukraine continues, it is really significant, I would like to emphasize that this is not a competition between the countries for support, we give what we can give, Ukraine asks for what it needs," he said.

Anušauskas added that 500 Ukrainian servicemen had been equipped in Lithuania, and from October Lithuanian instructors will take part in a training mission in the UK.

Earlier, he announced that 50 M113 armored personnel carriers provided by Lithuania had already arrived in Ukraine.

Also, the country decided against granting asylum to Russians fleeing from mobilization. Instead it urged them to stand up to Putin rather than flee.
