The countries of the European Union have reached an agreement on the eighth package of sanctions against russia, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen reported on Twitter.
“I welcome the Member States’ agreement today on the 8th sanctions package. We have moved quickly and decisively. We will never accept Putin’s sham referenda nor any kind of annexation in Ukraine. We are determined to continue making the Kremlin pay,” she wrote.

Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the EU Arnoldas Pranckevicius, in turn, said that the eighth package of EU sanctions against russia provides for restrictions on oil prices, as well as new bans on imports and exports.

“The 8th russia sanctions package just approved in the Permanent Representatives Committee. It Includes oil price cap, 7bn EUR worth new import and export bans on steel, wood, machinery, aviation, plastics, chemicals, ban on various services, 35 new individuals and companies involved in war, sham referenda and propaganda,” Pranckevicius wrote on Twitter.
