Premier urges Ukrainians to time electricity consumption to night hours

Every Ukrainian can contribute to the energy sustainability of the state, for example, by timing domestic and industrial electricity consumption to night hours as much as possible, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called for this during a government meeting.

According to him, without the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the energy system of Ukraine will operate at maximum capacity in winter. Therefore, to pass the difficult winter period with the least losses, it is possible to adjust the schedule of electricity consumption.

"In this context, we continue to work with partners on the demilitarization of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and the creation of a 30-km safe zone around it. ZNPP personnel should be able to work in calm, stress-free conditions, without Russian military. If ZNPP is demilitarised, Ukraine will have more opportunities to balance its own energy system and will even be able to continue exporting electricity to Europe," Shmyhal said.
