According to the Ministry of Finance, in 2023, the monthly budget deficit will amount to $ 3-4 billion, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko announced, according to the Ministry of Finance website.
"After the last stage of spending cuts, we register a monthly deficit for 2023 at the level of 3-4 billion US dollars," Marchenko said.
According to him, next year the Ukrainian authorities should do everything necessary to attract external concessional financing and grants to cover priority expenditures of the state budget, as well as to focus on fundraising for the implementation of rapid recovery programs.
Marchenko reminded that since the beginning of the war our tax revenues have decreased, while military spending has increased dramatically.
"In a few months we managed to increase the level of tax revenues compared to the first months of the war. All this time there was a fixed need for financing in the amount of USD 5 billion per month. But despite the enormous efforts made by our partner countries to help us, the deficit has not been financed in full," the minister concluded.
