Ukrenergo forecasts improvement of the situation with energy supply within a few days in the absence of new shelling, the head of the Ukrenergo National Power Company (NPC) Volodymyr Kudrytskyy said, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

"If there is no new shelling of the Ukrainian energy system by the aggressor country Russia, the situation with energy supply in the central region (the city of Kyiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions), as well as in the northern region (Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy regions), where it is the gravest, will improve over the next few days," he said during the national telethon.

"I think all of us, consumers, need to be patient for a few more days, provided that there will be no new shelling. To have some tangible relief with energy consumption, to make the outage schedules more comfortable. In the absence of shelling - and this is an important condition - we will be able to improve energy supply in the central and northern regions," added Kudrytskyy.

According to him, as a result of five massive strikes, as well as several smaller enemy attacks, the situation in the energy system is still quite complicated, especially in Kyiv and Kharkiv regions.

"Hourly outage schedules are introduced here, and, unfortunately, sometimes we have to apply additional emergency outages to balance the power system in these regions. The power deficit here varies during the day, because the amount of consumption and generation available to the dispatcher changes, but it is in these particular regions where it exceeds an average of 1000 MW," Kudrytskyy described the situation.

At the same time, he directly connects the possibility of a blackout of the power system with the intensity of its shelling by the aggressor's troops.

"Both local authorities and power engineers are obliged to prepare for any scenario, including the most pessimistic one - a blackout. The probability of this scenario depends on the intensity of the shelling, which is quite difficult to predict, but we, power engineers, will do everything to prevent such scenarios," assured the Head of NPC.

At the same time, Kudrytskyy noted that soon he hopes to get some additional tools to ensure energy supply, particularly in Kyiv and the region.
